So if you haven’t noticed by now nearly all of the playlists on this site have been put together on Spotify. The main reason for this, apart from being my most used phone app, is because of their integration with consoles.
Since you can download the Spotify app directly onto your console to play through your TV and sound system, it has evolved with the newer generation of consoles to allow you to play music while you’re in a game. We have some guides to show you how to set them up below, however the quickest and most useful way of playing music in game is through everyone’s favourite peripheral; their mobile phone.
If, like me, you have the Spotify app on your phone and are connected to the same Wi-Fi network to your console you can search and pick tunes as you normally would on your phone – with a twist. Once you have a song playing and have the player buttons visible at the bottom of the app, look out for where it says “DEVICES AVAILABLE”. Click on that text to get to the Devices page, showing you what you are currently listening on and what devices are available to cast your music through. As long as you’re on the same Wi-Fi network as your console it will show up in the devices list, so click, connect and play for a seamless audio experience.
And the best part; as long as you have the Spotify app on your console you can load music this way without even having to open the console app, connecting to the console does it automatically in the background!
